What to do at 4am?
1/800sec, f7.1, ISO 200 - 04:11am Well to be fair, this opportunity isn't available every day of the year! But it was on 28th August 2026 - A partial lunar eclipse. It was a bit last minute deciding to set my alarm and placing the camera and lens next to the bed. Forecast said cloud cover was possible and moon would be quite low (it wasn't either). As always when I set an alarm, i was awake about half hour before it went off (how does that work??), so disabled it and trod car

Visit to Lake Pochard Nature Reserve
Back in June I attended a guided walk at Lake Pochard Nature Reserve. These are a few of the photos taken on the day. The guide Jon is a semi-professional photographer and is very knowledgeable. A typical guided tour is £60, but this could be a group tour of up to eight people. Obviously there is nothing extraordinary at this lake, birdwise, but it was a good experience. Especially the little bank vole which is quite tame, as a result of Jon's regular visits...

Missing Post...
For those who do not yet know I broke my fibula whilst walking at Vassal Park, near the Frenchay Bridge. Easily done. I slipped on a stone, the ground was dry and dusty, fell quite hard and twisted my ankle. Initially I thought I had sprained it, but the following morning I couldn't put any weight on my right foot... Just to mention. If it wasn't for the cage around my camera I'm pretty sure my camera would have been considerably damaged. As it is the only damage is a few scr

First attempt at Raw Burst (Canon R6 Mk II)
Not the best of results, but take it from me, it's not that easy... For those who are not familiar with Raw Burst, the camera continually stores multiple shots, typically 15 - 25, in a buffer when the shutter is half pressed. When you decide you want the shot, you fully press the shutter and multiple shots are taken. This ensures you get the photo you require. The downside is you can only see the photos in Canons DPP (Digital Photo Professional) software with Canon. Once you

Relaxing Walk By The River Avon - By Manni Pearce
You can't beat getting out and about in nature to clear the mind. I have walked this area since I was 12 years old and never get tired of the scenery. This is the River Avon between the Lock Keeper Pub at Keynsham and the Chequers Pub at Hanham.

Recent Photos
I am often saying at Club about the need for us to use the Resound Club Blog more often. That way we can maybe see more photos we are taking that perhaps sit outside of the normal composition challenges and the Inter Club Competition. And whilst I often try to encourage use of this I realise I haven't posted anything recently myself - not good. So this will be an attempt to put that right. Meanwhile I should acknowledge Neil and Manni who have been more active on here - t

Visit to Specsavers required...
Today I visited the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2026 exhibition. This photograph was voted winner of the Animal Portrait category. The photographer stated that he purposely blurred the image by moving his camera to make the shot more interesting... Personally I think the judges needs to visit Specsavers... 😂
